James Perkins named interim executive director of Auxiliary and Business Services
James Perkins '92 has been named interim executive director of Auxiliary and Business Services (ABS) as Lynsay Belshe steps down.
Belshe, vice president for Auxiliary and Business Services, will step down from her role, effective January 30, 2026, to focus on a family health matter and begin planning for her retirement. She will assist with the transition as Perkins assumes interim leadership of the unit.
“Serving my team in ABS, Virginia Tech, and the entire Hokie Nation has been the crowning achievement of my career,” Belshe said. “Focusing on family has now become my priority, and the best decision for me is to step away from my role as vice president and return home to the Northern Virginia region at this time.”
“We will miss Lynsay’s leadership. She has been a valuable member of my team and the university community,” said Amy Sebring, Virginia Tech’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. “I understand the importance of family and fully support her decision to redirect her focus at this time.”
Perkins will provide functional oversight to Auxiliary and Business Services, leading the unit’s operations that support and enhance campus life for students, faculty and staff, alumni, and visitors. ABS includes Air Transportation Services, Residential and Departmental Mail Services, Fleet Services, Hokie Passport Services, Parking Services, Sustainable Transportation and oversees major university contracts, including those that support the operation of The Inn at Virginia Tech and the University Bookstore.
Perkins has served as chief of staff for Auxiliary and Business Services since 2021. Prior to returning to Virginia Tech, he served as executive director of university services at Radford University.
Given the transition, Sebring will take the opportunity to work with Perkins and the ABS team to ensure that we remain positioned to provide effective and efficient auxiliary services for all community stakeholders.
