Ali Mehrizi-Sani awarded Bradley Senior Faculty Fellowship
Ali Mehrizi-Sani, professor of electrical and computer engineering in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, has been awarded a Bradley Senior Faculty Fellowship by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The fellowship recognizes and supports outstanding faculty in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. It was created with the support of the Bradley Endowment, established by a generous gift from Marion Bradley Via.
A member of the Virginia Tech community since 2019, Mehrizi-Sani has advanced the control, modeling, and integration of inverter-based resources in modern power systems. His latest research focuses on the intersection of power engineering and advanced wireless communications to help shape a resilient, reliable grid of the future.
Mehrizi-Sani, who is also director of the Power and Energy Center, has secured more than $13.3 million in sponsored research funding from sources including the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, Department of Defense, industry, and utilities.
His work has been cited over 11,700 times, and he has an h-index of 36. He has published nearly 210 peer-reviewed publications, five books, and multiple influential industry reports and standards.
He has trained 25 graduate students, many of whom have gone on to leadership roles in academia, utilities, and industry.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from Sharif University of Technology, a Master of Science from the University of Manitoba, and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto.
