Sourav Saha awarded Professor Ella M. Atkins Junior Faculty Fellowship
Sourav Saha, assistant professor of aerospace and ocean engineering in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, has been awarded the Professor Ella M. Atkins Aerospace and Ocean Engineering Junior Faculty Fellowship by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The Professor Ella M. Atkins Aerospace and Ocean Engineering Junior Faculty Fellowship was established by a generous gift from Ella Atkins, department head in the Kevin T. Crofton Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering, to generate new interest in science and engineering challenges for air and water vehicles and systems.
A member of the Virginia Tech community since 2024, Saha has published 39 peer-reviewed scientific articles in journals and 16 peer-reviewed conference proceedings articles. His work has been cited 1,794 times, and he has an h-index of 25. His research has resulted in four U.S and international patent applications.
His research is focused on the fields of computational mechanics, scientific machine learning, and advanced manufacturing. He has funding from the U.S Navy for his research on advancing data-driven computational simulation and manufacturing system design.
Saha is currently advising two Ph.D. and five undergraduate students.
He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and a Ph.D. in theoretical and applied mechanics from Northwestern University.
