Corps of Cadets alumnus 1st Lt. Youngchan Harthausen named South Carolina game Hokie Hero
U.S. Army 1st Lt. Youngchan Harthausen, a 2023 Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumnus who earned his degree in meteorology from the College of Natural Resources and Environment, was selected as the Hokie Hero for Sunday’s football game against South Carolina.
The Hokie Hero program honors corps alumni who are deployed. Recipients are highlighted by Bill Roth and Mike Burnop during their radio broadcast of Hokie football games, on the Corps of Cadets website, and in the Corps Review alumni magazine.
Harthausen is deployed to South Korea with the 4th Infantry Division’s 299th Brigade Engineer Battalion as the executive officer of a field support company. Over the last four months, his unit has supported the engineering battalion with maintenance and supply distribution assets. During his time in the corps, he was a member of Echo Company.
