Search committee for associate vice president for finance and university controller announced
Virginia Tech has formed the search committee to oversee a national search for the next associate vice president for finance and university controller.
Reporting to the vice president for finance and chief financial officer, the associate vice president for finance and university controller oversees accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, internal controls, and financial system optimization. This role provides strategic oversight for the financial infrastructure that supports Virginia Tech’s academic, research, and outreach missions and ensures that financial operations are transparent, effective, and aligned with strategic priorities.
The new associate vice president will replace Melinda West, who will retire later this year after more than 29 years of leadership and service to Virginia Tech.
Brad Sumpter, assistant vice provost for finance, is chairing the search committee. Search committee members are:
- Sherri Cook, deputy director for research administration and chief financial officer, Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC; associate vice president for Virginia Tech Health Sciences & Technology, Finance, and Operations
- Linda Duffy, assistant vice president of research and innovation and director of sponsored programs
- Lauren Lawson, university bursar
- Rob Mann, assistant vice president for capital budgeting and financing
- Reed Nagel, assistant vice president for finance and director of procurement
- Justin Noble, chief audit executive
- Brennan Shepard, chief of staff, executive vice president and chief operating officer
- Jay Smith, director of finance applications, Division of Information Technology
- Jenny Vincent, assistant dean of finance and administration, College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences
