James Bridgeforth selected for AGB leadership program

James Bridgeforth, assistant vice president for Student Affairs, will participate in the AGB Institute for Leadership & Governance's Class of 2025-26. The leadership program, now in its seventh year, is dedicated to preparing future leaders for distinguished service in higher education.
Bridgeforth is among 25 exemplary leaders from institutions nationwide who will start their journey with an in-person symposium in Washington, D.C., in September. The AGB Institute has a distinguished record of success, with 24 past participants advancing to the roles of presidents or chancellors at higher education institutions.
"Now more than ever, colleges and universities need talented and motivated leaders who are prepared to navigate the ongoing changes to the higher education environment," said Rod McDavis, AGB Search’s managing principal and CEO. "The AGB Institute for Leadership and Governance in Higher Education was created for the distinct purpose of preparing aspiring leaders for successful service, and we are excited to engage and support the growth of the next cohort of leaders."
Bridgeforth's selection underscores his commitment and leadership within Virginia Tech and the broader higher education community. His participation in the AGB Institute will enhance his capacity to contribute to the university's mission and strategic objectives.
"I am beyond excited to have been selected as an AGB Leadership & Governance fellow, and most of all, I’m honored to represent Virginia Tech in this capacity," said Bridgeforth. "My time at Virginia Tech has been filled with meaningful challenges and transformative opportunities, and I could not be more grateful. I want to extend my deepest thanks to Dr. Frances Keene, Dr. Cyril Clarke, Dr. Lisa Wilkes, and President Tim Sands for their enthusiastic support and encouragement as I continue my leadership journey."
