David Tegarden honored with emeritus status

David Tegarden has been conferred the title of associate professor emeritus of accounting and information systems in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech by the Board of Visitors.
A member of the Virginia Tech community for more than 30 years, Tegarden is viewed as a dedicated professor and lecturer and was named the Darrell D. and Betty R. Martin Junior Faculty Fellow in recognition of his high-quality teaching. He has published numerous chapters, books, and articles in both academic and practice-related journals on the topic of academic information systems. Tegarden also served as a reviewer and as a member of the editorial board for many academic journals.
Throughout his career, Teagarden acted as a dedicated mentor to numerous master’s and doctoral degree students. In addition, he served as a research associate for the Calhoun Center for Higher Education Innovation at Virginia Tech, where he developed materials to address the future direction of higher education. His distinguished service has contributed to the success of many students, the Department of Accounting and Information Systems, Pamplin College of Business, and the university.
Tegarden received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Middle Tennessee State University. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
