Search committee for senior vice president for advancement announced

Virginia Tech has formed the search committee tasked with recruiting the next senior vice president for advancement.
Reporting to the president, the senior vice president for advancement works closely with university leadership to promote institutional priorities, enhance philanthropic engagement, and deepen relationships with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders. The senior vice president oversees an aligned and integrated Advancement organization that includes development, engagement, and marketing and communications with dual reporting structures across academic colleges and other university units.
The new senior vice president will fill the position left by Charlie Phlegar, who is retiring after a highly accomplished 10 years of service leading Advancement at Virginia Tech.
Julie Ross, the Paul and Dorothea Torgersen Dean of Engineering and special advisor to the president, will chair the search committee, whose members are:
- Bridget Ryan Berman, vice president, Alumni Association Board
- Elizabeth McClanahan, chief executive officer, Virginia Tech Foundation
- William Park, chair, Virginia Tech Foundation Board
- J. Pearson, member, Board of Visitors
- Amy Sebring, executive vice president and chief operating officer
- Monecia Taylor, vice president for advancement
- Chris Yianilos, vice president for government and community relations
The search committee will be supported by a staff that includes Lisa Wilkes, vice president for strategic initiatives and special assistant to the president, and Eleanor Webster, deputy to the vice president for strategic initiatives and special assistant to the president.
