Are you ready for Valentine’s Day?
Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and with the holiday’s arrival comes gifts of bouquets and candy to the Blacksburg campus.
For students, Valentine’s Day plans are as unique as the couples themselves.
Because Valentine’s Day is on a Friday, junior Maddie Fulk and her boyfriend, Rob, will be spending the evening together, enjoying takeout and watching a movie at home. They plan to visit the Blacksburg Farmers Market on Saturday morning.
Lily Webb, a senior, is meeting with her long-distance boyfriend, Sam, at the halfway point between each other — Charlottesville. They’re planning to explore the downtown area and “go to a few pet stores to look at the cute animals.”
What is the most romantic thing your significant other has done?
“He likes to bring me flowers and surprise me with coffee,” Fulk said. “It’s the little things that mean the most to me.”
“The most romantic thing my boyfriend has done for me is give me a drawing of my favorite animal — a parakeet. It was very thoughtful, especially because I know he does not particularly like drawing, but did it because he knew how much I would appreciate the gift,” Webb said.
What does Valentine’s Day mean to you?
While Fulk considers Valentine’s Day a “Hallmark holiday,” she finds it “nice to have an excuse to plan a date and do something together.” Fulk and her boyfriend are “very much quality time people over gift-givers” and enjoy spending the holidays together.
Webb said she appreciates Valentine’s Day because it’s “a good reminder of your partner and the positive impact they have on your life.”
