Virginia Tech locations in the greater Washington, D.C., area will open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8. University employees designated as emergency personnel must report as instructed by their supervisor. Employees with a remote or hybrid work schedule should work online as scheduled.

7:01 p.m.

The Alson H. Smith Jr. Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Winchester will open at 10 a.m. on Jan. 8.

4:51 p.m.

The Southern Piedmont Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Blackstone will open at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 8.

3:29 p.m.

The Eastern Virginia Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Warsaw will open at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 8.

Operations for Tuesday, Jan. 7

  • Campus locations in Blacksburg and Roanoke will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
  • D.C. area locations will remain closed on Jan. 7.
  • The following Agricultural Research and Extension Centers will open at these designated times:
    • 9:30 a.m. - Southern Piedmont Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Blackstone
    • 10 a.m. - Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Suffolk
    • 10:30 a.m. - Eastern Virginia Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Warsaw; Eastern Shore Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Painter

The Virginia Tech Southwest Center in Abingdon will open at 10 a.m. on Jan. 7.

The Alson H. Smith Jr. Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Winchester will be closed on Jan. 7.

The Reynolds Homestead Forest Resources Research Center will be closed on Jan. 7.

5:38 p.m.

Due to inclement weather conditions, the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7. University employees designated as emergency personnel must report as instructed by their supervisor.

Classes beginning at 10 a.m. or after will be held as scheduled.

The Virginia Tech Health Sciences and Technology campus in Roanoke, including the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Riverside Circle and the Virginia Tech Carilion School Medicine, will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The Virginia Tech Roanoke Center will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Eastern Shore Agricultural Research and Extension Center will open on a two-hour delay today, Jan. 6. Employees are encouraged to monitor their emails in case further delays or closings are necessary.

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Blacksburg and the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg will be open for emergencies only.  The Animal Cancer Care and Research Center in Roanoke will be closed.
