Cadet highlighted the colors at the Syracuse game
Cadet Conner Waldron traveled with the Hokies to receive the flags at Saturday’s football game at Syracuse.
The passing of the flags during the pre-game ceremonies was a continuation of the proud partnership between the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and Virginia Tech football to highlight the colors at every football game.
During games, three football players, chosen because of their performance in the last game or at practice, carry the American flag, the state flag, and the team’s spirit flag and lead the team onto the field. They deliver the flags to cadets at the south end of the field.
The cadets, also selected based on their performance in the corps, render honors to the flags and carry them off the field. For home games, three first-year cadets are selected, and one or two upper-class cadets travel with the team and receive the flags at away games.
Waldron, from Clifton, Virginia, is a member of Bravo Company majoring in business in the Pamplin College of Business. As a member of the corps’ Citizen-Leader Track and the first sergeant for the Coast Guard Auxiliary University Program at Virginia Tech, he balanced his corps and academic duties to facilitate clean-up efforts on Claytor Lake after the area was flooded with debris from Hurricane Helene.
Waldron serves as a fire team leader known for his productive discourse and engaging attitude. An encouraging and positive leader, he sets a high standard for his first-year cadets and leads by example.
