The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will hold its quarterly board meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 1:15 p.m. in 2100 Torgersen Hall, 620 Drillfield Drive on the Blacksburg campus.

In addition, on Monday, Aug. 26, an orientation session and retreat will be held in open session for new and returning board members beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Pete Dye River Course, 8400 River Course Drive in Radford. Board members will receive information on and discuss issues affecting higher education and the state of the university in the context of achieving strategic long-term university goals.

On Tuesday, Aug. 27, the committee chairs will meet in open session at 8 a.m. in the Old Guard Room at The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center, 901 Prices Fork Road. An information session for board members will start at 9 a.m. in Latham Ballroom at the inn.

Board committees will meet at the following times and locations: 

The Academic, Research, and Student Affairs Committee will meet Aug. 27 in closed session, followed by open session, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Latham A/B.

The Buildings and Grounds Committee will meet Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. for tours of War Memorial Hall and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, then meet in open session in Latham A/B.

The Compliance, Audit, and Risk Committee will meet Aug. 28 in closed session, followed by open session, beginning at 8 a.m. in Latham A/B. 

The Executive Committee will meet Aug. 26 in open session, followed by closed session, beginning at 11:45 a.m. at the Pete Dye River Course.

The Finance and Resource Management Committee will meet Aug. 28 in closed session, followed by open session, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Latham A/B.

The Finance and Resource Management Committee and Buildings and Grounds Committee will meet Aug. 28 in a joint open session at 11 a.m. in Latham A/B.   

During the meetings, board members will consider a resolution to approve funding to plan an expansion of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, part of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

Public comment will not be received during the three-day meeting.
