Lynne Caver appointed director of finance and business operations for the Division of Information Technology
Lynne Caver joined the university community in May as the director of finance and business operations for the Division of Information Technology.
Reporting to Chief of Staff Ken McCrery, Caver serves as the fiscal officer for the division, leading the financial planning and business operations. She provides counsel to the division’s senior leadership team through interpretation of financial data, development of in-year and future budget projections, and analysis of financial activity and trends.
Caver came to Virginia Tech from the California Institute of Technology, where she was senior director of finance and information systems for facilities. During her time there, Caver led a group that launched a Power BI dashboard for financial and operating information as part of a larger project to create a data lake for facilities.
“The more I learned about Virginia Tech, the beautiful area, and the Division of Information Technology, the more I was drawn here,” said Caver. “People have been so welcoming, from the initial interview throughout the entire onboarding process. I’m really looking forward to meeting more people and getting settled here.”
“Lynne brings not just expertise in finance, but a keen understanding of how strategic financial management can empower our technological advancements. We are thrilled that she is here,” said Sharon P. Pitt, vice president for information technology and chief information officer.
Caver is a certified public accountant with a master's degree in accounting with a focus on data analytics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a bachelor's degree in accounting and economics from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.
