WHAT: Virginia Tech’s College of Science and Department of Physics will host a solar eclipse viewing event for hundreds of students, faculty, and staff. Blacksburg will experience approximately 88% coverage, a happening that won't come again for another 20 years. The peak will happen around 3 p.m. Viewing glasses will be supplied so attendees can safely observe the eclipse. There will also be ten solar telescopes offering even more detailed viewing. The College of Science will raffle off 250 t-shirts designed for the event and attendees can enjoy celestial treats.
