For 24 hours, Hokies around the world will come together in support of what they love about Virginia Tech.

Giving Day begins Feb. 21 at noon EST. This tradition has a long-lasting impact that can be felt across the university and throughout the communities we serve. From sharing your enthusiasm to making a gift, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference for your favorite programs, departments, student organizations, teams, and more.

“Giving Day is a chance for members of our community to support what matters most to them in a fun and rewarding way,” said Ann Bolton, director of annual giving. “Nothing compares to the generosity of Hokies, and that’s what this event is about – coming together to support our university so we can accomplish great things.”

Last year’s Giving Day broke records. More than 16,000 Hokies participated and raised more than $9.6 million to support areas across the university.

Those who join in this year have the chance to increase the impact of their gift through special challenges that unlock bonus funding for participating colleges and programs. There are also ways to score exclusive Giving Day rewards for getting in the game and encouraging others to do the same – such as becoming a Giving Day ambassador.

A crucial part of Giving Day’s success comes from ambassador support. This group of enthusiastic Hokies share their excitement with friends, family, and those they know to make a difference for Virginia Tech. Last year, a record number of ambassadors raised more than $900,000, making a game-changing impact for students and the university.

“Ambassadors truly highlight what makes our community so special,” said Jimmy Moore, senior broad-based campaign manager. “They are passionate, enthusiastic, and make Giving Day a fun, successful event for all of us. We are grateful to everyone that has signed up to be an ambassador this year and excited to see what we accomplish together.”
