First-year Cadets Matthew Norsky, Kooper Bray, and Sebastian Lising will receive the flags at Saturday’s football game against Pittsburgh.

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and the Virginia Tech football team continue their proud partnership to highlight the colors during the pre-game ceremony at every football game.

Three football players, chosen because of their performance in the last game or at practice, carry the American flag, the state flag, and the team’s spirit flag and lead the team onto the field. They deliver the flags to cadets at the south end of the field.

The cadets, also selected based on their performance in the corps, render honor to the flags and carry them off the field. At home games, three first-year cadets are selected, and one or two upper-class cadets travel with the team and receive the flags at away games.

Norsky is in Army ROTC and majoring in political science in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. A member of November Company, he has set an early example of leadership for his fellow first-year cadets. Always leading from the front, he encourages his classmates to exceed the standards when mastering basic cadet skills.

Bray is in Navy ROTC and majoring in general engineering in the College of Engineering. He was chosen for his ability to stay calm under pressure and his dedication to helping his fellow cadets. A member of November Company, he demonstrates his commitment to cadet life by regularly attending the playing of Taps on Upper Quad in the evenings.

Lising, a member of Oscar Company and Navy ROTC, is majoring in philosophy, politics, and economics in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. Dedicated to superior performance, he strives to push himself and his peers to excel while eagerly tackling any challenges in his path.
