Carrie Cox has been named senior director for auxiliary services for the Division of Auxiliary and Business Services, effective June 25.

In her previous position, Cox served as the deputy commandant of cadets for the Citizen-Leader Track in the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. She led a team responsible for overseeing approximately 200 cadets with a mission to provide academic courses, physical fitness programs, and experiential cadet-led training, all aimed at developing future leaders.

"We are thrilled to welcome Carrie to our organization as a key member of our leadership team,” said Lynsay Belshe, vice president of Auxiliary and Business Services. “We are confident that she will have a significant impact on our auxiliary services, benefiting both internal and external stakeholders. Her wealth of experience and expertise gained from serving in various leadership roles in the military and academia will undoubtedly enable her to foster strong relationships and drive continual improvements. We are excited to work alongside her and look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make on our organization."

In her new role, Cox will be responsible for providing general oversight, management, development, and administrative planning for Mail Services and Transportation Services. This includes residential and departmental mail, parking services, air transportation services, sustainable transportation, and fleet services. She also will serve as an operational and strategic liaison to both internal and external stakeholders, providing management and training for continual improvement in the areas of transportation and mail services. Additionally, she will monitor and oversee fiscal and budgetary activity for her areas of responsibility.

"I am very excited and honored to have the opportunity to work with the Auxiliary and Business Services team and to support Mail and Transportation as they provide critical services for Virginia Tech. I hope that my background in leadership and logistics will help me advocate for and support the employees in these departments. I look forward to spending time with each area and our customers to learn more about their operations, their successes, and the areas they would like to improve," Cox said.

Cox holds a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a master's degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech.
