Lt. Cmdrs. Sarah Eggleston and Shann Ignacio named Miami game Hokie Heroes
U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdrs. Sarah Eggleston and Shann Ignacio were selected as the Hokie Heroes for Saturday's football game against Miami.
The Hokie Hero program honors corps alumni who are deployed. Recipients are highlighted by Bill Roth and Mike Burnop during their radio broadcast of Hokie football games, on the Corps of Cadets website, and in the Corps Review alumni magazine.
Eggleston graduated from the Corps of Cadets and earned her degree in political science from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences in 2010. She is currently on her third deployment and is stationed in Bahrain as an operations planner for Naval Forces Central Command. As a cadet, Eggleston served as the regimental executive officer during her senior year.
A 2008 corps graduate, Ignacio is on his fourth deployment. He is serving with the Naval Forces Central Command in Bahrain as the ballistic missile defense staff planning officer. Ignacio earned his degree in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering in 2009 and while in the Corps of Cadets was a member of Echo Company.
