Cadets chosen to highlight the colors at the West Virginia game
First-year cadets Kevin Chu, Archie Hill, and Nicholas Samson will receive the flags at Thursday’s football game against West Virginia.
The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and the Virginia Tech football team continue their proud partnership to highlight the colors during the pre-game ceremony at every football game.
Three football players, chosen because of their performance in the last game or at practice, carry the American flag, the state flag, and the team’s spirit flag and lead the team onto the field. They deliver the flags to cadets at the south end of the field.
The cadets, also selected based on their performance in the corps, render honor to the flags and carry them off the field. At home games three first-year cadets are selected, and one or two upper-class cadets travel with the team and receive the flags at away games.
Chu is majoring in psychology in the College of Science and is a member of Air Force ROTC. He was selected for his dedication to helping his fellow cadets and has demonstrated great resilience through the semester. He trains with intensity and uses his strong grasp of cadet knowledge to assist his peers.
Hill is in Air Force ROTC and majoring in business information technology in the Pamplin School of Business. A natural leader of his peers, he motivates his fellow cadets and routinely demonstrates intensity, confidence, and effort.
Samson is majoring in general engineering in the College of Engineering. A member of Navy ROTC, he was chosen for being a devoted team player who works hard to help his peers. Always sharing his positive attitude, he strives to better himself and his fellow cadets.
