A message to students from Frank Shushok Jr., vice president for Student Affairs

Dear Hokies,
Earlier today, the Board of Visitors approved an increase in dining rates for the spring semester. I know this will come as a difficult surprise for many of you who are already facing stretched budgets. You have my continued promise that Virginia Tech is doing everything we can to support you in this unprecedented season.
The unavoidable reasons for the dining rate increase are explained in this announcement.
The Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid is reviewing and adjusting the financial aid packages for those of you with the greatest financial need. In addition, the Dean of Students Office stands ready to offer emergency support should you find yourself in a moment of a crisis around dining or other issues. This office also welcomes any and all questions.
As you chart your course for the coming semester, please remember that you need not struggle nor succeed alone. Together has always been the best way to be a Hokie. I’m grateful to be in it together with you.
With hope,
Frank Shushok Jr.,
Vice President for Student Affairs
