Welcome back Hokies!
The first week of classes is always full of new faces, new challenges, and a new routine. It is so good to see students walking across the Drillfield, hustling to classes, and coming back to the library to study, work together, and visit our spaces. We have so many resources to help you get your work done.
The University Libraries has the spaces where you can study, research, create, and relax. Know that our librarians, faculty, and staff are here to support you in your academic endeavors. From research support and writing help to technology lending, the library is dedicated to your success!
We offer many unique services in addition to what libraries traditionally provide. We have fully equipped studios for virtual and augmented reality, 3D printing, and multimedia creation with sound booths, video cameras, and editing stations. Later this fall, we are opening a new prototyping studio where you can take an idea to a finished product with design software and maker tools such as saws, laser cutters, sewing machines, and 3D printers.
In addition to borrowing books, journals, and DVDs, you can stream movies and documentaries through the library. Do you need a camera, microphone, and light kit for a class project or a projector for movie nights with friends? You can check those out too. Our technology lending service even lends laptops, video game consoles, and board games. We regularly add new items to the technology lending lineup, so check it out, and create something!
