Daniel Sandor named collegiate assistant professor of turfgrass science

Daniel Sandor has been named a collegiate assistant professor of turfgrass science in the Virginia Tech School of Plant and Environmental Sciences.

He is one of a number of new faculty members hired in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences this academic year. New positions were identified to bring talent to the college's focus areas, including food, health, the environment, and the economy. The new faculty members are distributed across teaching, research, and Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Sandor holds a 100 percent teaching appointment as a collegiate faculty member of turfgrass science. The foundation of his program is providing students with the best educational opportunities and experiential-learning platforms so they will be extraordinarily prepared as highly-competitive, sought-after turfgrass professionals on a global scale. Sandor takes tremendous pride in his responsibilities in student-recruitment and outreach-efforts toward high school turfgrass science programs across the commonwealth. Sandor is extremely passionate about helping young people prepare for college and succeed during their time and study in higher education and beyond.

Sandor received his master of science from Western Kentucky University in agriculture and his Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas in plant science.
