Steven Markham named Digges Family Professor
Steven E. Markham, professor of management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been named the Digges Family Professor in Entrepreneurial Leadership by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The Digges Family Professorship was established in 2016 to provide support to the Pamplin College of Business to attract and retain top scholars in the field of entrepreneurship.
A member of the Virginia Tech community since 1978, Markham is a distinguished scholar in management with more than 65 published papers and book chapters. His work spans the fields of leadership, organization visualization, absenteeism, organizational change, analytics, and multilevel research methodology.
As a result of his scholarship, Markham has been invited to present his work at numerous meetings of academic and professional societies. He presented the 8th Annual Bernard M. and Ruth Bass Distinguished Speech and was honored by the Center for Leadership Studies at the University of Binghamton.
In addition, Markham has served as director of the AT&T Center for the Scientific Visualization of Organizations at Virginia Tech and has held visiting positions at the University of Salford in the United Kingdom and the AT&T School of Business and Technology.
Markham has served on dissertation committees of more than 30 doctoral students in business and engineering as well as six master’s degree thesis committees.
Markham received his bachelor’s degree from Claremont McKenna College (formerly Claremont Men’s College) and a Ph.D. from the University of Buffalo.
