Linda Wallace named Konrad W. Kubin Senior Faculty Fellow
Linda Wallace, associate professor of accounting and information systems (ACIS) in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been named the Konrad W. Kubin Senior Faculty Fellow by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The Konrad W. Kubin Senior Faculty Fellowship in Accounting and Information Systems was established by alumni and friends of Konrad W. Kubin, a faculty member in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems from 1972 to 2003. Kubin taught auditing and financial accounting and was active in the accounting profession. For many years, he ran the Accounting and Auditing Conference co-sponsored by the department and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. The fellowship recognizes teaching and research excellence.
A member of the Virginia Tech community since 1999, Wallace’s scholarship focuses on online communities, fitness technologies, software project risk, and crowdfunding.
She has taught many different courses for the department, but most recently has taught Accounting Systems and Controls and Information Systems Security and Assurance. Accounting Systems and Controls is a course taken by all ACIS undergraduate majors in their junior year, Accounting Application development is taken by all seniors, and Systems Security and Assurance is taken by all master’s degree students.
She has also served on five Ph.D. committees, two for the department, one in the Department of Business Information Technology, and two in the Department of Computer Science. She chaired the department’s master’s program for many years and has been instrumental in working to refine the curriculum, particularly at the graduate level.
Wallace has published 25 papers and has another three under review at this time. Her research has appeared in top journals, such as MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, and Journal of Management Information Systems. She has presented numerous peer-reviewed conference presentations at national and international conferences and has been a reviewer for many of the leading journals in information systems, as well as an associate editor for Information & Management, Decisions Sciences, and Information Systems Journal.
Wallace received two bachelor’s degrees from Oglethorpe University and a Ph.D. from Georgia State University.
