David Brinberg, professor of marketing in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been named the Kathleen Grega Digges Professor in Entrepreneurial Studies by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.

The Kathleen Grega Digges Professorship in Entrepreneurial Studies was established in 2015 with a generous gift from Robert H. Digges Jr. ’59. He established the endowment, in memory of his wife, to enable the Pamplin College of Business to attract and retain top scholars in the field of entrepreneurial studies.

A member of the Virginia Tech community since 1993, Brinberg is a distinguished scholar in marketing with more than 70 published papers, books, and book chapters. His 1990 paper in Health Education Research was recognized as the best research article published in the journal that year. His research, which spans the areas of social marketing, individual and group decision-making, and research methodology, has a world-wide reputation for its quality and contributions.

Brinberg has served on the chair or as a committee member of 35 doctoral students. He also served as head of the Department of Marketing from 1993 to 1997.

In 2019, Brinberg received the Pamplin College of Business Career Award for Excellence in Research and in 2018, he received Virginia Tech’s Alumni Award for Excellence in International Education. In addition, he has received the Pamplin College of Business Award for Excellence in International Programs three times since 2009. He also received Pamplin’s 2012 Award for Excellence in Outreach and 2011 Award for Excellence in International Outreach.
