John A. Brozovsky reappointed Wayne E. Leininger Faculty Fellow
John A. Brozovsky, professor of accounting and information systems in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been reappointed the Wayne E. Leininger Faculty Fellow in Accounting and Information Systems by Virginia Tech President Timothy D. Sands and Executive Vice President and Provost Thanassis Rikakis.
The Wayne E. Leininger Fellowship in Accounting and Information Systems was established by friends of Wayne E. Leininger to honor the former faculty member and department head who served the Department of Accounting and Information Systems from 1971 until his retirement in 2003. The fellowship recognizes excellence in teaching and scholarship and recipients hold the fellowship for a period of three years.
Brozovsky has held the Wayne E. Leininger Faculty Fellowship since 2010.
A member of the Virginia Tech faculty since 1989, Brozovsky has published 25 peer reviewed journal articles, more than a dozen other articles, one book, and two book chapters. He has made more than 30 presentations, including several presentations on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) at meetings sponsored by the American Accounting Association, the Port Authorities of North America, Illinois CPA Society, and the Georgia Society of CPAs.
In the department's last Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International accreditation visit, the peer review team specifically recognized the department's leadership in preparing its students to live in a changing financial reporting environment. Brozovsky's contributions in this area are significant.
Brozovsky has served on 14 dissertation committees and has chaired four others. He has been the primary advisor to more than 600 undergraduate junior and senior accounting and information systems majors as well as more than 60 master's degree students annually. Since Brozovsky assumed this responsibility, student evaluations of advising has improved substantially.
Brozovsky received his bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of Texas and a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado.
