WVTF Public Radio and RADIO IQ names Josh Jackson program director and content manager
Josh Jackson has been named program director and content manager at WVTF Public Radio and RADIO IQ.
As program director and content manager, Jackson will be responsible for all programming produced, acquired, and distributed by the two distinct services, WVTF Public Radio and RADIO IQ, as well as content created for the WVTF Public Radio and RADIO IQ web sites and mobile device distribution.
Jackson also will manage the station’s social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.
“These are exciting times for public broadcasters. Our core mission of presenting quality programming remains steady, but digital technology is rapidly redefining our business model," said WVTF Public Radio and RADIO IQ General Manager Glenn Gleixner. "Josh brings a deep understanding of the multiple challenges we face in public media and understands the importance and required balance of local and regional programming within the larger framework of service we offer from networks and independent producers."
Prior to joining Virginia’s largest public radio service, Jackson was vice president of content at WBGO Public Radio in Newark, New Jersey, and New York City. He had worked at that station since 2001.
Jackson also co-founded Joyride Media and was an associate producer for Murray Street Productions and held positions at WWOZ –FM in New Orleans. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia.
Jackson replaces Rick Mattioni, 62 who retired last month after 27 years at WVTF and a 40-year career in broadcasting.
