Trevor T. Stewart joins School of Education faculty
Trevor T. Stewart has been appointed program leader for English education and an assistant professor in the School of Education at Virginia Tech’s College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Stewart is one of 27 new tenure-track faculty members at the college this fall. The new hires are part of the college’s ongoing efforts to attract renowned scholars to strengthen and expand its teaching, research, and engagement programs. The college has added more than 100 full-time permanent faculty members in the past four years.
Stewart’s research interests include the influences of educational policy and testing on English teachers’ instructional practices and the intersection between language and culture. He will teach English education methods.
Stewart has been published in a number of national and international peer-reviewed journals, including the International Journal of Dialogical Science, The ALAN Review, Reading in the Middle, and American Reading Forum Yearbook. He has contributed chapters to three books.
Stewart received his bachelor's degree and master's degree from Western Carolina University and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.
