Luke Philip Plotica joins Department of Political Science faculty
Luke Philip Plotica has been appointed an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech.
Plotica is one of 27 new tenure-track faculty members at the college this fall. The new hires are part of the college’s ongoing efforts to attract renowned scholars to strengthen and expand its teaching, research, and engagement programs. The college has added more than 100 full-time permanent faculty members in the past four years.
Plotica’s research focuses on modern political and legal thought, and how political and legal institutions, practices, and discourses mediate and condition individual agency. He will teach judicial process and modern political theory, and serve on the faculty boards of Philologia and the college's Undergraduate Research Institute.
His book “Michael Oakeshott and the Conversation of Modern Political Thought” is set for publication in April 2015. He has also been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals.
Plotica received his bachelor's degree from James Madison University, a master's degree from George Washington University, and a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University.
