Charles Dye joins School of Performing Arts faculty
Charles Dye has been appointed an assistant professor in the School of Performing Arts at Virginia Tech’s College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Dye is one of 27 new tenure-track faculty members at the college this fall. The new hires are part of the college’s ongoing efforts to attract renowned scholars to strengthen and expand its teaching, research, and engagement programs. The college has added more than 100 full-time permanent faculty members in the past four years.
Dye’s scholarship focuses on non-fiction and fiction film production. He will teach digital cinema production and documentary theory and production.
A documentary filmmaker, Dye was featured recently on Independent Lens, the PBS showcase for documentaries, for his new work, “Indian Relay.” His other films are “Last of the Gum Men,” “A Cat Called Elvis,” and “Before There Were Parks: Yellowstone and Glacier through Native Eyes.”
Blacksburg’s Lyric Theatre will host a screening of “Indian Relay” on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m.
Dye received his bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Montana State University.
