Tuesday, Jan. 21: Winter weather-related information
Much of Virginia will be experiencing winter weather today and below freezing temperatures for the rest of the week. Stay tuned to VT News for the latest information
Closures and delays
3:30 p.m.: Due to inclement weather conditions, the classes at the Virginia Tech Roanoke Center will be canceled today as of 4 p.m.
2:30 p.m.: Due to inclement weather, the Virginia Tech Richmond Center has closed effectively immediately, and all evening classes are cancelled
9 a.m.: The Virginia Tech National Capital Region is closed today, Jan. 21. All offices are closed and classes canceled.
9 a.m.: The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine is operating on a two-hour delay
Blacksburg Transit service
10:30 a.m.: Blacksburg Transit is operating on full service. However, due to the inclement weather, delays should be expected. Allow extra time for travel and be prepared for possible route changes.

University community encouraged to prepare for sub-freezing temperatures
9 a.m.: Before leaving work today, the university community is encouraged to close all windows around work stations and in public spaces in order to avoid potential problems with freezing pipes and associated water damage.
An extended period of sub-freezing temperatures is expected in the Blacksburg area beginning later today.
Temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing again until perhaps Saturday, and night time low temperatures are expected to be approximately 10 degrees over the next three nights.
