During this season of giving support the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign
The following is an open letter to Virginia Tech employees from Sherwood G. Wilson, honorary chair of the 2013 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign.
Dear colleagues,
For many, this time of year is about visiting with family and friends, exchanging gifts and celebrating the season. Just as important, however, is supporting your community.
Participating in the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign is an easy way to show that support. The CVC helps organizations that are making a difference in your community whether it is feeding those without, helping children learn or fulfilling other important missions.
We have only a few days left until the end of our campaign and we are still short of our goal. As of Dec. 9, we have raised $259,211 toward our goal of $300,000, with just 1,353 of our 7,410 employees participating (18 percent).
Making a contribution is easy with our online pledge system. In just a few minutes, you can make a tax deductible gift that can be paid through payroll deduction. There’s no paper form to fill out, check to write, or mail to be sent.
You can select to which of the more than 1,000 charities you’d like to contribute, or you can donate to the general fund.
Please support your community and join your colleagues who have already generously donated.
Your donation, no matter how small, will make a difference.
Sherwood G. Wilson, Honorary Chair
2013 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign
and Vice President for Administration
