Elizabeth Mazzolini joins English faculty
Elizabeth Mazzolini has been appointed an assistant professor in the Department of English at Virginia Tech’s College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Mazzolini is one of 14 new faculty members at the college this fall. These new hires are part of the college’s ongoing efforts to attract renowned scholars to strengthen and expand its teaching, research, and engagement programs. More than 70 full-time permanent faculty members have been added to the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences in the past three years under the leadership of Dean Sue Ott Rowlands.
Mazzolini’s current research focus is the material workings of ideology and persuasion in American environmentalism. She recently co-edited an interdisciplinary volume on garbage and waste titled, “Histories of the Dustheap” (MIT Press) and has been published in several academic journals.
She is teaching courses in the professional writing major and in English department graduate programs. Her academic background is in rhetorical and cultural theory and science studies.
Mazzolini holds a Ph.D. in English and a master's degree from Pennsylvania State University, and a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University.
