Golab stops in Blacksburg, Kids Tech University to host family science program April 27
Area families are invited to participate in hands-on science experiments aboard Golab, a fully functional and customized mobile laboratory housed within a tractor-trailer, on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Virginia Tech campus.
The event will take place at the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute off Duckpond Road. Admission and parking are free.
Sponsored by the Kids’ Tech University program, the Golab visit is part of a broader U.S. tour that showcases the latest in scientific instrumentation.
The mobile lab will arrive Friday, April 26, and will be used for demonstrations for undergraduate and graduate education programs. On Saturday, April 27, hands-on science demonstrations will be open to the public but children must be accompanied by an adult.
In addition to the activities within the trailer, children can participate in an egg drop and straw rocket building activities, watch a Virginia Tech Police K-9 unit demonstration, and a robotic arm demonstration.
The event is hosted by the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute, Virginia 4-H, Quasar Instruments, Virginia Tech RASC-AL Design Team, Virginia Tech Biochemistry Club, and Virginia Tech Lunabotics.
