Companies lead workshops at Pamplin diversity conference
The Pamplin Multicultural Diversity Council’s Diversity Conference on Saturday, Feb. 25 will feature workshops led by corporate representatives from Ernst & Young, Freddie Mac, Frito-Lay, and Target and a keynote address, “Becoming an inclusive leader in the 21st century,” by Virginia Tech vice president for diversity and inclusion William Lewis.
Pamplin dean Richard E. Sorensen will welcome participants to the seventh annual event, held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Inn at Virginia Tech. The student-organized conference is free and open to all Virginia Tech students, but registration is required.
Yalana Orr, a Pamplin academic advisor who is helping to organize the event, says the conference is a great opportunity for students to learn about diversity in the workplace, network and land an internship or a full-time position, build their resumé, develop multicultural competency skills, and increase their awareness of a multiethnic workplace.
The conference is sponsored by the companies leading the workshops, as well as Altria, The Hershey Company, and KPMG.
Free parking is available at the Inn. Find more parking information online, or call (540) 231-3200.
