Virginia Tech celebrates Jewish Awareness Month
Virginia Tech will celebrate its fifth annual Jewish Awareness Month March 14 through April 15.
This time allows the Virginia Tech community to have the opportunity to learn more about the Jewish culture and its people. The theme for this year’s Jewish Awareness Month is “The Questions That Guide Us.” Events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted.
The featured event for this year’s Jewish cultural celebration will be “Can We Speak? With Joan Rivers,” featuring a performance by the Jewish comedian. This event will be held March 31 at 7:30 p.m. in Burruss Hall Auditorium. Tickets are $30 for general public and faculty/staff members and $18 for Virginia Tech students.
On April 7 at 3 p.m., Virginia Tech President Charles W. Steger will host an annual poetry reading and reception called Poetry at the Grove at his home on Grove Lane on the Virginia Tech campus. Each of the poetry readings will explore Jewish life, history, and culture. The cost is free, but guests must RSVP by e-mail to Kristen Houston by March 24.
Numerous other events are planned throughout the months of March and April. For a complete calendar of events for Jewish Awareness Month, visit the Multicultural Programs and Services website. Jewish Awareness Month is sponsored by Multicultural Programs and Services, a department within the Division of Student Affairs.
