T.W. Bonham honored with emeritus status
T.W. Bonham, professor of management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been conferred the "professor emeritus" title by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The title of emeritus may be conferred on retired professors and associate professors, administrative officers, librarians, and exceptional staff members who are specially recommended to the board of visitors by Virginia Tech President Charles W. Steger. Nominated individuals who are approved by the board of visitors receive an emeritus certificate from the university.
Bonham served the Pamplin College of Business for 28 years as a college administrator, including 23 years as associate dean for administration and research. He was appointed assistant dean of the college's undergraduate programs and undergraduate academic advisor in 1978, promoted to associate dean of undergraduate programs in 1981, and appointed associate dean of administration and research in 1983.
Bonham, whose teaching and research interests are in organizational behavior, returned to full-time teaching in the Department of Management in July 2006. He has won four teaching excellence awards and is a member of the Virginia Tech Academy of Teaching Excellence. Bonham’s scholarly research contributions include the publication of journal articles and refereed proceedings.
A member of the university community since 1969, Bonham made considerable contributions to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the area of organizational behavior, contributing to the department's high national ranking.
Bonham received a bachelor's degree from Duke University, and an MBA and a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.
