David Panciera named Anne Hunter Professor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. David Panciera, professor of internal medicine in the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, has been named the first Anne Hunter Professor of Veterinary Medicine by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The Anne Hunter Professor of Veterinary Medicine was established to support small animal medicine and research programs with an emphasis on feline research, in the veterinary college. The appointment is for five years and is renewable.
A member of the Virginia Tech community since 1998, Panciera is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and is on the staff of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, specializing in small animal internal medicine.
He has authored a textbook on clinical endocrinology, 14 book chapters, and over 70 peer-reviewed scientific articles. Panciera has given more than 200 lectures at 70 continuing education courses for other veterinarians, made presentations at five international conferences, and has been an officer in the Society for Comparative Endocrinology for eight years. He has been the principal investigator or co-investigator on more than $530,000 in research funding.
Panciera received his bachelor’s and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Oklahoma State University, and a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
