Colorado Quartet to perform at Virginia Tech
The Colorado Quartet will perform Saturday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. in the Squires Recital Salon on the campus of Virginia Tech. The concert is a part of the University Chamber Music Series by the Department of Music.
The quartet will play an all-Beethoven program featuring “Quartet in C Minor, Op. 18 No. 4;” “Quartet in F Major, Op. 135;” and “Quartet in E Minor, Op. 59, No. 2 'Razumovsky.'” The members of the Colorado Quartet are violinists Julie Rosenfeld and Deborah Lydia Redding, violist Marka Gustavsson, and cellist Katie Schlaikjer.
Catapulted onto the scene by back-to-back wins at the Banff International String Quartet and Naumburg competitions, Colorado was the first all-women quartet to attain international stature. They are also the first female quartet in history to perform the complete Beethoven Quartet cycle in Europe and North America. They have recorded the entire works of Beethoven for String Quartet; the middle and late quartets have been released, and the early quarters are still in the editing process.
