Virginia Tech Board of Visitors to meet Nov 8-9
The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will hold its quarterly board meeting at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in the Board Room of Torgersen Hall (Room 2100) on the Blacksburg campus.
On Sunday, Nov. 8, three meetings will be held at the Inn at Virginia Tech. The Executive Committee will meet in open session from 11 a.m. to noon in the New River Room. A general information session will be held for all board members from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Latham Ballroom. The Research Committee will meet in open session from 4:15 to 6 p.m. in Smithfield Conference Room.
The following committee sessions will be held on Monday, Nov. 9 (meetings will be at The Inn at Virginia Tech unless otherwise noted):
- The Academic Affairs Committee will meet in closed session at 8:30 a.m. and will meet in open session at 9 a.m., both meetings will be in the Drillfield Room.
- The Buildings and Grounds Committee will tour a Hokie Stone wall located at the Sterrett Complex at 8:15 a.m., and will join the Student Affairs and Athletics Committee for a tour of the new Hall West at approximately 8:30 a.m. At 10 a.m., the two committees will meet in open session for 30 minutes in the Solitude Room. Buildings and Grounds will meet separately in open session from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Solitude Room, and then will join the Finance and Audit Committee in open session in the Duck Pond Room.
- The Finance and Audit Committee will meet in closed session at 7:30 a.m. in the 1872 Salon and will meet in open session at 8:30 a.m. in the Duck Pond Room. The Building and Grounds Committee will join them at 11:30 a.m.
- The Student Affairs and Athletics Committee will meet in open session at 10:30 a.m. in the Smithfield Room.
During the two day meeting, the board will receive an update on the progress of the 2006-2012 University Strategic Plan. In addition, the board will consider resolutions on the Virginia Tech Safety and Security Committee Structure, the 2010-2012 biennial budget update, a Master of Business Administration program fee, and a revision on the university’s severance policy for eligible faculty and university staff.
