Owens Food Court's Bowl Dynasty shop to receive new layout, new menu
This summer, the Bowl Dynasty shop in the Owens Food Court at Virginia Tech is undergoing a series of renovations that will help the Asian cuisine-inspired shop offer up a new menu of foods at the start of the fall semester.
The renovations and new menu, when completed, will offer students a larger selection of food options.
The old Bowl Dynasty layout, which was set up for a create-your-own stir-fry layout, will be renovated to accommodate an à la carte style, featuring items such as white and brown rice, egg rolls, General Tso’s chicken, and vegetable stir-fry. In addition, the new menu will feature a different stir-fry option each week, including beef and broccoli, orange chicken, sweet-and-sour pork, and beef teriyaki, as well as Sunrise sauces and products.
As a result of the menu changes, new gas-powered woks have been installed in the Bowl Dynasty shop, and will be used to prepare all food options fresh daily. The front counter has also been redesigned with new countertops and sneeze guards, as well as a new heat well designed to hold wok pans filled with the daily menu options.
“I think students are really going to like the changes they see in Bowl Dynasty with the addition of the new sauces and entrees,” said Brian Grove, the associate director of Dining Services. “With the new menu, students are going to see a much more consistent product served to them every day.”
The current renovations are scheduled to be completed by the start of the fall semester, when Owens Food Court will reopen for business.
