Reed Kennedy appointed Pamplin international programs director

Reed B. Kennedy, of Blacksburg, Va., has been appointed director of international programs in the Pamplin College of Business, effective July 10.

Kennedy has taught part-time for three years in the management department, where he has been an instructor and director of the Small Business Institute. His primary career has been in healthcare administration: he served in senior executive positions in various hospitals for more than 20 years, including three years in a mission hospital in Colombia.

Kennedy, who speaks Spanish, has led a student group on a study-abroad program in China and helped set up medical clinics in Indonesia immediately after the 2004 tsunami. He has worked as a business consultant and counselor for the Small Business Development Center for the New River Valley at Radford University.

Kennedy received a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University. He succeeds Lance Matheson, associate professor of business information technology, who returned to full-time teaching and research after directing the program for two years.
