University partnerships from Southside to Indonesia are featured in Outreach Now
With the help of Virginia Tech researchers, cocoa farmers in Indonesia are learning to protect their plants without damaging their environment, vegetable farmers in a watershed in the Philippines are learning how to practice organic gardening, farmers in Ethiopia are working on water supply and watershed management projects, and former tobacco farmers in Southside Virginia are using their croplands and skills to grow bio-fuels.
These and a number of other global and local partnerships forged by Virginia Tech are featured in the current issue of Outreach Now: Networking Opportunities Worldwide.
The magazine, produced by Virginia Tech’s Outreach and International Affairs (http://www.outreach.vt.edu/), also includes articles on
- The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, where research projects and education programs are aimed at improving Southside Virginia’s economy;
