Frank Gwazdauskas honored with the American Dairy Science Association Fellow Award
Frank C. Gwazdauskas of Blacksburg, Va., the David and Margaret Lincicome Professor in the Department of Dairy Science in Virginia Tech's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, received the 2008 American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) Fellow Award.
He was presented with the award at the ADSA annual meeting in Indianapolis, Ind.
The fellow award is given to members of the Dairy Foods Division and Production Division of the ADSA who have provided exceptional contributions to the dairy industry for at least 20 years.
Gwazdauskas’ research focus throughout his career has been on how hormones regulate reproductive functions in dairy cows. During his career, Gwazdauskas has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Gamma Sigma Delta Research Award of Merit, the Virginia Tech Alumni Research Award, and the Pharmacia and Upjohn Physiology Award from ASDA.
Gwazdauskas earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut, after which he went on to receive both his master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Florida. He began his career at Virginia Tech as an assistant professor in 1974, where he has been a role model for the many students he has mentored. Additionally, Gwazdauskas has published 155 journal articles and 170 abstracts.
