Corporate Research Center's Joe Meredith receives business leadership award
Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center President Joe Meredith received the 2008 NewVa Leadership Award from the NewVA Corridor Technology Council.
The award recognizes one who “not only succeeds in the workplace, but also leads by example by contributing significantly to the community in which we live,” according to a statement by the Tech Council.
“The fact that businesses in Blacksburg and the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center are so well-represented underscores Joe’s leadership recognition. Over the years, he has done an outstanding job in supporting the business community and helping job creation in our area.” said Raymond Smoot, chief operating officer of the Virginia Tech Foundation.
The Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center and the New River region were well represented at “Tech Nite,” the annual awards banquet for the technology association representing businesses in the Roanoke and New River regions. Also nominate for the award were Doug Juanarena, Gen Tek Ventures; Pat Matthews, Mailtrust; Beth Deal, MyScooper.com; and Brett Malone; Intrexon. All but one is a Blacksburg operation.
Also recognized for excellence were Torc Technologies for the Rising Star Award and Intrexon for the Innovation Award. Both are located at the university’s research park.
