YMCA announces inaugural Healthy Kids Day
The YMCA at Virginia Tech is pleased to announce its inaugural Healthy Kids Day event taking place on Saturday, April 14, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on the Virginia Tech Drillfield and inside War Memorial Hall on the Virginia Tech campus.
Join the YMCA at Virginia Tech, Virginia Tech Recreational Sports, and special guest athletes from the Virginia Tech’s women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams in a celebration of ways to make fitness fun. The activities will introduce families to an array of healthy behaviors and healthy ways to play--an essential lesson for children in learning how to take care of themselves throughout their lifetime. Everyone is welcome to attend, but events will be geared specifically towards elementary aged kids and their families.
YMCA Healthy Kids Day is part of YMCA Activate America, an innovative public health initiative of the YMCA movement that is making healthy living a reality for millions of Americans. By celebrating health and wellness of young people through a variety of fun-filled physical activities, YMCA Healthy Kids Day encourages children and their families nationwide to stay active, connected, and healthy. The YMCA Healthy Kids Day event is celebrated nationwide annually. Activities at participating YMCAs will vary and may include games, sports, health screenings and more.
Some of thefree mini classes at Virginia Tech include sports, fitness tests, dancing, creative weight lifting, yoga, nutrition, and outdoor skills.
